Edge Banding CNC Cabinet Parts
Edge banding turns CNC-cut sheet goods into clean, finished cabinet parts. It protects exposed edges, improves appearance, and helps parts look installation-ready.
PVC edge banding
PVC is durable, consistent, and available in many colors and thicknesses. It is common for melamine cabinets, closet systems, commercial fixtures, and high-volume production.
Wood veneer edge banding
Wood veneer is used when the project needs a natural wood appearance. It works well with plywood and veneer panels, especially when edges need to match stain or clear coat finishes.
Thickness choices
Thin banding is economical and subtle. Thicker banding is more durable and can soften the feel of doors, shelves, and high-touch components. Commercial projects often benefit from thicker edge protection.
What edges should be banded?
Mark front edges, visible sides, door and drawer fronts, shelves, finished panels, and any exposed cabinet parts. Hidden construction edges may not need banding unless moisture resistance or durability is required.
Color matching
Provide manufacturer names, color codes, laminate references, or physical samples when matching is important. Small color differences can be obvious on finished cabinetry.
Quote checklist
For each part, specify material, thickness, quantity, edge banding sides, banding material, banding thickness, color, grain direction, and whether corners need trimming or radius work.
Production tip
The clearest edge banding instructions are part-by-part. Ambiguous notes like “band visible edges” can slow production because visibility depends on final installation.
